The Case of the Mysterious Michigan Jersey

Ewan Lemens, Age 9

One day, this random guy, a Michigan fan of course, was selling a number four jersey. What he didn’t know was that the jersey he was selling was haunted—the former number four of Michigan’s football team. The story began by the random guy selling a Michigan jersey. Somebody walked by—he was a State fan, however, so he didn’t buy it. Fifty fans walked by; thirteen of them wanted to buy it. The thirteen who wanted to buy it asked what the price was. The random guy said the price was forty-nine ninety-nine, so none of them wanted to buy it. During the game, nobody was walking by. The streets were empty. Just then, something magical happened. The jersey moved by itself. It killed the random guy who was selling it. The next day, the jersey was there just lying on the ground with no man near it. So the police called in detective Smith to solve the mystery. He was the best detective in the city. The reason everybody knew about it was that somebody saw it happen and told everybody. On that day, detective Smith began his job…

The Cracked Paint

Gabriel Burks, Age 10

Every day Joey loved to paint on a certain wall in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He loved the football team Michigan. He also loved everything blue. He was a secret agent for the C.I.A. He was 10,000,000,000 years old. He was the undead.

One day he came back to the brand new paint that was bright blue. He went up to it and looked at it and it was cracked up, and underneath it was red paint like Ohio State. He hated it. So he painted it blue again. The next day he investigated the paint and he found out that there was a Michigan-Ohio State game that day. He found a group of college students talking about cracked paint, so he picked up all thirty college students and threw them to space.

The Empty Showcase

Piper Campbell, Age 10

Emily Smithson lived in the simple, small town of Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was walking down to buy ice cream from Kilwin’s and she spotted an empty showcase. Why is it empty? Emily thought. She last saw a Michigan number four jersey. Just before that it was a Michigan hat with a pom pom. “Hhhmm,” Emily said.

She walked down to 826 to clear her mind. On the way, she saw a sign with a Michigan number four jersey draped over it. “What is this doing here?” she thought aloud. It was the exact same jersey in the showcase. She picked it up. It felt stiff and cold, like it had been there overnight. She put it in her backpack. It could be useful later…

The Mystery of Number Four

Josie Hodges, Age 10

Drip Drip Drip Meow Drip Drip Drip. As I walked into the meeting I saw a shadowy figure with a retina camera. I looked toward the principal and saw that he had a huge orange and purple cat in his lap. The cat also had ice cream! “Huh?” I said as I looked at the principal. The principal stood up and looked at me as he was wearing a three-piece suit that was now covered in cat hair.

Neon Green Can

AnnaBeth H., Age 11

“Come on!” Max said as he casually strolled along the sidewalk before turning into the alleyway. “Max, this is a bad idea,” said Ava. “We can’t do this in broad daylight. What if we get caught?” “We’ll be fine,” said Max. “It’s a game day for the football team; no one’s going to give a thought to what we’re doing!” He then walked faster and came to a stop at the alley’s wall. He then proceeded to take two cans out of the bag that had been hanging over his shoulder. “Can I have mine, Max?” I said. “Sure, Bridget,” said Max, handing me the neon green can. “Ooohhh…” said Emma and Ava. “Shut up!” said Max as he slowly turned pink. I could feel mine doing the same. Sam whistled slowly and grinned when Max glared at him. Ava and Sam grabbed their cans and Emma borrowed one of Ava’s. Then we all got to work.
