Neon Green Can

AnnaBeth H., Age 11

“Come on!” Max said as he casually strolled along the sidewalk before turning into the alleyway. “Max, this is a bad idea,” said Ava. “We can’t do this in broad daylight. What if we get caught?” “We’ll be fine,” said Max. “It’s a game day for the football team; no one’s going to give a thought to what we’re doing!” He then walked faster and came to a stop at the alley’s wall. He then proceeded to take two cans out of the bag that had been hanging over his shoulder. “Can I have mine, Max?” I said. “Sure, Bridget,” said Max, handing me the neon green can. “Ooohhh…” said Emma and Ava. “Shut up!” said Max as he slowly turned pink. I could feel mine doing the same. Sam whistled slowly and grinned when Max glared at him. Ava and Sam grabbed their cans and Emma borrowed one of Ava’s. Then we all got to work.
