The Empty Showcase

Emily Smithson lived in the simple, small town of Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was walking down to buy ice cream from Kilwin’s and she spotted an empty showcase. Why is it empty? Emily thought. She last saw a Michigan number four jersey. Just before that it was a Michigan hat with a pom pom. “Hhhmm,” Emily said.

She walked down to 826 to clear her mind. On the way, she saw a sign with a Michigan number four jersey draped over it. “What is this doing here?” she thought aloud. It was the exact same jersey in the showcase. She picked it up. It felt stiff and cold, like it had been there overnight. She put it in her backpack. It could be useful later…
