All Because the Wind

Will Harris, 9
Thurston Elementary

Rain was dripping on my raincoat. It was 3:00pm and I was outside of the airport. Today was a windy day. “Hey,” a stranger yelled as I walked toward the front doors to the airport. He was tall and had an MSU sweater. I still couldn’t see his face. “No!” I screamed.

My ticket was a few feet above me. Today wasn’t only raining; it was windy too. He jumped and caught the ticket in his left hand. No, I won’t be able to go to my conference in Florida, I thought. I have one clue: he will be in the Florida section.

Once I made my way to the airport I got to security right away. I saw a tall man with an MSU sweater.

“Stop right there,” I said. An old man with an ordinary green sweater turned around. “Huh!” he gasped.

“Whoops, I’m sorry to bother you. I’m just looking for my airline ticket. Someone stole it from me. He had an MSU sweater; he was very tall,” I said.

“Oh. I saw him walk that way.”

I ran to the right of the security. There he was! “You stole my ticket,” I yelled. “I caught you, now hand me the airline ticket before I call the cops.” He gave me the ticket. I only had twenty minutes.

I ran through security and ran to the Florida section. Everyone was boarding the plane. I got in just in time. I was lucky I could make it to my conference.

Robber!

Meredith Fischer, 8
St. Thomas the Apostle

Once in 1976, Nancy and Dan were asleep in a big room in their small house. Nancy awoke early so she made her tea. She saw a piece of paper and she liked being clean so she picked it up. It said, “Black robber costume.” She couldn’t explain this, so she called a detective. Nancy had just got her sip of tea while waiting for the detective. “What a racket that dog is making!” said Dan.

Just then, the detectives came. He noticed a hair, fingerprints, and a mask. He shouted, “A robber! You will get $30 tomorrow! Good evening!” the detective shouted.

“Wait! We need it by tonight!” said Nancy.

“Fine! Go get some soup!” he screamed. He handed them $30 then shut the door.

“What a rude man,” said Nancy. Nancy got some soup and cooked it for dinner. The detective came inside their house.

“I know who stole the money! According to DNA he lives on South Street. I called the wife and she gave the address.” said the detective. He was at the grocery market so he got the license plate and followed him. They knocked down food chasing the man. The detective had handcuffs.

“I confess!” said the robber. “I stole the money, because I am a poor beggar so I bought some wood for a house,” he said.

“Well your new house is a jail cell!” said the detective. The end.
Nancy said she felt sorry and he was freed.

One day there was a family. Two of the youngest kids had an 826 Drop-in Writing class. Right after school they went to Ann Arbor. Their writing class was a two-session class. So this time they were going to the second session of the class.

The girl was two years older than the other person, which was a boy. The other one was a girl. The little boy was eight years old. The girl was ten years old. They went to the workshop.

The girl remembered that she saw a cool toy that she wanted to play with, but the boy in front of her (who was closer) took the toy that she wanted to play with. She was very upset. She wanted to ask the boy for it back, but she thought that it would be rude. So she did not say anything to the boy that took it before her. She did not say anything or do anything, except watch the other boy play with it the whole writing class.

But at the next writing class she was trying to look for it instead of the boy taking it from her. When she found it, she found it on a tall shelf. She reached for it very hard. She felt a huge weight coming off of her shoulders. She was very, very, very happy that she got the toy that she wanted to play with at the first time. The instructor told all of them to get a piece of paper to write a mystery. So when she went to go get a paper, she came back after she got a paper. And then she noticed that the toy that she got from the high shelf was missing! She was very worried and upset again. Then she later saw her younger brother had the toy that she was looking for. She asked the brother what she did with it. The brother said, “Nothing!” The older sister looked at the younger brother very, very, very mysteriously. The older sister said, “I know you took it! So where is it?
